Lent is a season of sacrifice. You give something up. Something you really enjoy. Something you don’t want to live without. We Catholics note the period between Ash Wednesday and Easter, this period we call Lent, as a time to prepare for a commemoration of the event that defines our faith: the resurrection. As Christ suffered and prayed, so, in some small way, in some representative way, must we. So we give something up for those few weeks and don’t make a big deal about it.
